Welcome Back Students!
By Kira

It’s that time of year again. School supplies, new classes, new teachers… Welcome Back to all the students!
Celebrities: Nicolas Cage
By Kira

Here’s my next celebrity example…pretty self explanatory.
On a side note, Ames IA was flooded last week. I could not leave the city for 2 days. Luckily I made it out in time to draw at Fayette Watermelon Days yesterday.
Celebrities: Tom Cruise
By Kira

I’ve decided I need more celebrity examples. The last movie I saw at the theater was Knight and Day at the dollar theater. Am I a real caricature artist now that I’ve drawn Tom Cruise? …I didn’t make his front tooth prominent enough, maybe next time I’ll try from another angle.
and that means all ages…

Marshall Co. Fair in Warren Minnesota. You betcha! I really had a great time!
Kids of all ages!
By Kira

Although Kids’ Days events are a popular place for caricatures, there is no age limit on being a kid. Here are some kids that I drew during Janesville Days, in Janesville, Iowa.
Fair Season!
By Kira

My busiest month has arrived. July: The month of summer festivals and county fairs. Kids and adults alike love to get drawn. These drawings take less than 5 minutes each. Let me know if you want me to draw at your event!
I take my little portable drawing table, grab a couple of folding chairs and set up camp. Along come the people and I’m busy for hours.
Walk-in Caricatures!
By Kira
I now have walk-in caricatures available at my new studio at the First Street Community Center (second floor) in Mount Vernon, Iowa. I don’t have a regular schedule at this point, but please feel free to come poke your head in, and of course you can always set up an appointment. It takes about 15 minutes per person. I do pets as well!
$20 for a single color (does not apply to custom drawings and custom gift caricatures).
Tell me you saw my website for $5 off a walk-in caricature!

Parraffino
By Kira
This is what you get when you combine a parrot, giraffe, and rhino into a powerful, dangerous and colorful animal without wings…otherwise known as the Parraffino.
This was created by playing a fun artist game. In down time at the park we entertain each other by writing a list of key words and then handing it off to another artist to illustrate. As listed above, the key words for this were: parrot, giraffe, rhino, must look powerful, dangerous and colorful, no wings. Then we hand the finished drawing to the writer of the words for a grade. I got an A+ on this one. The only problem with this game is those pesky costumers keep coming up to the stand and wanting to get drawn…
Universal Orlando!
By Kira
I really haven’t disappeared from the face of the Earth…just the face of Iowa. For those of you who do not know, I am spending a few months drawing with the artists at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. It’s been a great experience so far. I’m having a great time. I especially like the 70 degree days in January. It’s the slow season currently, so I am also enjoying all the rides and attractions that Universal has to offer. Here are a few examples of my work. They are graphite and airbrush.

Jordan Creek Mall, West Des Moines, Iowa
By Kira

My first experience of drawing in a mall. Jordan Creek Mall: a main attraction in the state of Iowa for the general spending of money especially when potency for wallet extraction is multiplied during the holiday season.
the GOOD: 1) climate control 2) lighting control 3) absence of creaking rides 4)better opportunity for my friends to stop by and visit me 5) option to spend money in a great variety of halls decked with bows of holly
the BAD: 1) booth is in a relatively low traffic area 2)less business 3) longer hours 4) longer drive 5) option to spend money in a great variety of halls decked with bows of holly
Here are some sketches of people I’ve seen walking by.
